Description
The sweetening power of STEVIA is 300 times that of sugar. Stevia does not provide any calories because it is not assimilated by the body. Stevia is a natural alternative to sugar and synthetic sweeteners. Stevia is a genus from the Asteraceae family. It includes around 240 species of aromatic herbs or shrubs, some of which contain natural sweeteners, notably Stevia eupatoria and Stevia rebaudiana, known under the generic name of stevias. Native to South America, this plant grows wild in meadows or mountain ranges, in a semi-arid climate. Its low carbohydrate content makes it a substitute for sucrose. In addition, its negligible effect on blood glucose levels makes it a sweetener compatible with diabetic and hypoglycemic diets.
