👉 Rabat, August 21, 2025 — Morocco’s General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) has issued an official statement denying claims made by Spanish newspaper La Gaceta, which alleged that a Moroccan citizen recently arrested in Spain for terrorism had received a royal pardon in Morocco.
👉 Read the original La Gaceta article: One of the Islamist terrorists arrested in Vallfogona de Balaguer (Lérida) was pardoned by Morocco and arrived in Spain through illegal immigration routes.
According to the DGAPR, the individual was not imprisoned at the time of the royal pardon granted for the 20th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne. He had been sentenced to six months in prison in 2017 and served his full sentence between March and September of that year.
The DGAPR described the claims as baseless, asserting they are part of a campaign to undermine diplomatic relations between Morocco and Spain, which are currently marked by strong bilateral cooperation.
