Government Accuses Unknown Parties of Inciting Youth to Mass Migration
Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, addressed the issue of the recent events in Fnideq. He emphasized that the government has no problem with Parliament’s request for accountability regarding the matter, stating, “The legislative institution has the right to monitor the work of the government, and we comply with that. Parliament is doing its role, which is a positive thing. The government has no issue responding in accordance with the law.”
Speaking at the weekly press conference, Baitas explained that “the image circulating after the thwarted attempt at mass crossing through the border point (between Fnideq and the occupied Ceuta) is under investigation by the relevant authorities.” He described the situation as “unfortunate,” adding, “The public knows that migration is a global phenomenon, and we see it happening in many countries.”
The minister continued, “In connection with this issue, some youth are being incited by unknown parties through the misuse of social media, aiming to mobilize them. In response to efforts to combat calls for illegal migration, 152 individuals have been brought to justice, and all attempts have been foiled.”
Baitas also revealed that “around 3,000 people attempted illegal migration,” praising the “professionalism with which the public authorities handled the situation, adhering strictly to legal standards.” He highlighted that the authorities acted with wisdom and ensured the safety of those involved, noting, “No deaths were recorded among the migration candidates.”
